It has been speculated that Shraddha Srinath would be playing one of the leads in Ajith’s next with Vinoth, which is an official remake of the Bollywood film Pink. Earlier, rumours suggested that Nazriya Nazim and Kalyani Priyadarshan were also considered to step into Taapsee’s shoes to play a strong-willed woman who endeavours to establish that when a woman says ‘no’, she means ‘no’. Now, we have it from Boney Kapoor, who is backing the film, that it’s indeed Shraddha, who will be playing an integral role in the film, tentatively titled ‘AK59’.

He says, “Shraddha has been cast in a pivotal role; she is a very promising actress. We are also excited about introducing Vidya Balan to the Tamil audience; she is paired with Ajith and her role is a very special one. I’m happy that the entire project is proceeding at a brisk pace.”

An equally thrilled Shraddha tells us, “I’d received a call from the team and I met them to learn about the project. There were two rounds of auditions and only after that did they sign me on. The whole process took a little over a month I guess. I’ll soon start shooting with the team.” Meanwhile, we hear that Abhirami Venkatachalam and Andrea Tariang (who was part of the Hindi version as well) are on board for the film, which has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

She revealed the crew details as well and wrote, “Directed by H. Vinoth, produced by Boney Kapoor, cinematography by Nirav Shah and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja – this is a team one could only aspire to work with. Thrilled to be working with some amazing technicians.”

Pink started a social dialogue about consent with its focus on the film’s three female protagonists and their lawyer Amitabh Bachchan. Taapsee played the role of a woman who is sexually harassed and is shamed for her lifestyle and choices; Shraddha is likely to play this role. She further tweeted, “And most importantly – this is a film and a story that everyone needs to watch. It’s the need of the hour. And it’s crucial that it reaches the masses. I’m so ready for this and to give it my all.”
